Sorry about the lapse in blogging. Between the computer breaking down (with accompanying headaches) and the children sharing the tummy yucks--I haven't had a lot of time to blog.
And...we move on.
Fall, for some reason, is the busiest time of the year for us. We do most of our family outings in the Fall and spend a lot of time driving around admiring the landscape. D would love to take a train ride through the foliage one of these years, but we are waiting until the children can handle it.
This year was no different. I've compiled the pictures below--but, they bear explaining.
We go to the "Giant Corn Maze" near our home every year and really enjoy getting lost. The maze we go to has three separate mazes ranging from 1.5 miles to 3 miles with posts scattered throughout where you can get a "punch" on your card to show that you found it. Normally we only make it through two of them before one of the children decides they've had it. This year we made it through all three! Yeah! I tried to get a picture of us doing the victory dance, but my camera died as I was taking it. Just use your imagination. ;)
We also like to go to the local orchards during the Fall. On the weekends these orchards offer "Applefest" with hayrides, pumpkins, mazes, crafts, and lots of apples to pick. We went twice this year. The first time was very busy (as well as cold) and we didn't get to do as much as we normally do. We were rather disappointed until we noticed that one of the bigger orchards offered a Monday-Thursday "tour" for a lot less money than paying a la carte. So we came back the following week...paid less...and pretty much had the place to ourselves. We're going to have to remember that for next year. :D This orchard has a corn/hedge maze with a "castle" in the middle that we wandered through for awhile. The theme was "having a wild time" and so there were stuffed animals in cages throughout the maze. After conquering the maze we played on the pirate ship, rode the "train" and Moo got her pumpkin (we had chosen ours on the previous trip). Happy children all around.
We decided to let Moo decorate her own pumpkin this year. Please note that that explains the marker stained face. Please don't ask me why G1 has a red arrow on her forehead...I can't explain it. Yes...my children love to draw on themselves. **sigh**
This year for Halloween we decided on a "mythological" theme. G1 was Medusa (the green things in her hair are little snake heads), G2 was Cerberus (isn't he cute!), and the Moo was the Golden Fleece. Moo refused to pose for pictures so you don't get to see how adorable she was. Sorry. D took them out to trick or treat while I stayed home with Mom and made cheater donuts (they're fantastic!). Needless to say--the children made out like bandits. I culled their takings that night in an effort to cut down on the sugar overload. Uh huh. ;) On the following Sunday we made pumpkin donuts (real donuts this time) and had friends over. Pumpkin donuts were very tasty, if I do say so myself.
Good thing there is a slight break between Fall activities and Christmas--we'd be worn out! ;D

You all look like you had a ball. We are actually a little less busy with the end of the high school football season. But we are headed up there, with marc, next weekend. We will be there sat. to sat. over the Thanksgiving holiday. Should be fun. Love ya, Glad your computer is better. stacie
I love the pix! G1 looked great as Medusa and G2 was cute enough to give dog biscuits. M looked cute enough from the back. It sounds like you are creating great family traditions and memories for your children to think back on and smile. Good for you and D!
Great montage! Such fun memories! I love the picture of G2 holding the apple. Awesome pumpkins, and cute costumes. Looks like you guys are having a great time.
