D.A.R.E.

You know...I don't know what those letters stand for, but I know the catch phrase is "D.A.R.E. to stay off drugs." If you do not have this program in your school, you can find the premise here. (where I just found out that the acronym is for Drug Abuse Resistance Education **blush**)

Every year the 5th graders at G1's school go through the D.A.R.E. program and at the end of the lessons they are all supposed to write an essay about what they've learned as part of an essay contest. This year G1's essay was chosen as one of the winners and she got to read it at the D.A.R.E. assembly.

She was thrilled (she loves to write), until she realized that the assembly would be in front of the entire school. Performing in public isn't one of her strong suites, to put it kindly. So, even though I have video of her reading her essay--it's pretty unintelligible. LOL

You'll have to make do with this picture taken of her holding her medal. ;)

That's really cool. Could you post her essay so we could read it? I want to read it. Way to go G1! I'm impressed.
