My Sweet Girl...

Just before Christmas we celebrated another holiday...the birthday of our oldest.

She was just a tiny thing when she was born 7 1/2 weeks early...a mere 4lbs. We were afraid we'd break her, but she proved to be tougher than she looked and managed to survive the misadventures of two scared first time parents. D had to learn that rhumba tights and hair pretties are par for the course when you have a little girl and truckdriver burps only add to her charm. I had to learn to let her be daddy's little girl, that babies have definite opinions, and that pink wasn't so horrible a color.

Through the years we've listened to her chatter on about Teletubbies, rainbow cars, Harry Potter, Duck Dodgers, and Egypt. We've listened to a LOT of chatter.

We've watched her learn to read, learn to play the piano, learn to write stories, learn to love learning.

After 5 years of her longing for a sibling--we've watched her assume her roll as a loving older "sissy" with as much grace and aplomb as is possible with an energetic younger brother and a demanding younger sister.

From that tiny scrawny start we've watched her grow tall, strong, and beautiful.

The time has flown...and I'm sure will continue to fly.

Happy Birthday baby girl.

It is amazing how they grow. :) I remember her peanut stage. You'll have a teenager soon. Scary thought.

The teletubbie chatter was my favorite. I heard it from behind the couch of course :) Love that girl.
